Welcome to Mrs Thier's Science Class!

Welcome! My name is Ms. Thier and I am excited to be teaching in Adrian.  I taught 6th grade Physical Science in Worthington.

I actually graduated from Adrian High School a long time ago.  I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in 5-8 Science from Bemidji State University.  I also have a degree in Theraputic Recreation with an athletic training minor.

I am looking forward to bringing science to life with hands on activities.  We will also be using technology through the use of virtual labs.

6th Grade Physical Science

6th Grade Physical Science is a year long physical science course that covers basic middle school physics and chemistry concepts as well as the engineering design process and the nature of science. Students learn about the properties of matter, how materials and atoms interact, physical change, types of energy, waves, light, forces and motion. Students use observations, laboratory investigations, and problem solving to analyze and understand the science of everyday physics and chemical phenomena.

7th Grade Life Science

7th grade life science explores a wide-variety of topics related to the biological sciences, including: human anatomy, genetics, ecology, data collection & analysis, the scientific process, cells, invertebrates, classification, biological changes, and plants. Learning is done through laboratory studies, classroom lecture, experimentation, and readings.

8th Grade Earth Science

The earth science course emphasizes scientific inquiry through a lab-oriented, hands-on approach. Earth Science is a composed of several sciences, topics to be covered are astronomy, physical and historical geology, chemistry of the earth, oceanography, meteorology and local geology.
