Welcome to Mrs. Frodermann's Class!

A little bit about me...

My family includes my husband, and our four children.  We have an 8th, 7th, 4th, and 2nd grader all of whom attend Adrian Public School. They are active in extra-curricular activities, which means traveling and spending time watching them grow in all ways. Our family enjoys doing many things together, even helping out on our farm.

I have a teaching license for Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education, and K-12 Specific Learning Disabilities. I received my degree from Augustana College and have been teaching and coordinating the full inclusion preschool program in Adrian for 14 years. This program includes the Early Childhood Special Education programming as well. This year I will be working with a focus on the Birth to age 7 Early Childhood Special Education population.

The Birth to Three program consists of home visiting and working on family based outcomes after a child has met special education criteria through the state of MN.  A referral can be made by outside agencies, the parent, and the Help Me Grow website through Minnesota Department of Education.  Referrals are based on concerns with infant/toddler development in any of the following areas, adaptive, cognitive, social/emotional, communication, or motor. A child may also be referred if a medical diagnosis is present.  After family consent, the special education process begins with the referral, followed by a screening or evaluation. Once the evaluation is completed the special education team (special education teacher, parent(s), and specialists) meet to determine if criteria is met and an Individualized Family Service Plan can be completed. Home visiting will then begin after parental consent.

The Three to Seven program occurs in the Elementary school within the preschool or kindergarten classroom. The special education process follows the same routine as the Birth to Three program with the exception of creating a family plan.  Once the child turns the age of three an Individualized Education Plan will be created and implemented in accordance to the child's needs. This plan is geared towards meeting the child's educational needs.
